Sufjan Stevens nacido el 1 de julio de 1975 en Detroit, Michigan; es un cantautor y músico estadounidense. Sus canciones recogen un universo fantástico y mítico, donde dragones, brujas, el cielo y el infierno dan forma a sus letras. Su nombre de origen árabe surge de una prominente figura islámica, Abu Sufyan. Desde pequeño se interesó por la música, y un músico autodidacta. Ya dentro de la Universidad dominaba diversos instrumentos, desde el banjo hasta el oboe. Sufjan es de los pocos músicos que toca instrumentos tan exóticos en sus álbumes.
